Our Laboratory offers a full range of veterinary diagnostic testing in the areas of clinical biochemistry, hematology, hemostasis, and urinalysis, Cytology, Anatomic and Clinical Pathology. Our highly qualified technical staff consists of certified Medical Technologists and Medical Laboratory Technicians with extensive experience in veterinary testing and knowledge of species differences. Careful attention to quality assurance ensures the accuracy of results. Laboratory-specific reference intervals are available for dogs, cats, horses, avian and exotic animals.
Complete Blood count
Abid delivers the gold-standard in testing methodology for optimum results. ADVIA technology utilizes peroxidase staining—the gold-standard in differential testing. This primary methodology of the ADVIA Hematology Systems also provides a secondary total white cell count that acts as an internal QC check to monitor sample integrity. Unique cytochemical differentiation of myeloid and lymphoid cells, and six-parameter differential supplies additional clinical information Direct measurements of intracellular hemoglobin provide sensitive and specific RBC morphology for accurate and early detection of disease states Accurate platelet counts in the clinically significant range (excluding microcytic red cells and cell fragments) minimize the number of manual counts and unnecessary, costly platelet transfusions.
Clinical Chemistry
In the field of diagnostics, a Veterinarian needs quick, reportable and accurate results, which are cost effective too! In this modern era, our organization is equipped with state of the art automated clinical chemistry analyzers on the basis of its technical superiority to others. We provide clinical analysis of biological samples like serum, plasma, and urine for diagnosis and various species and research projects. We use this system for numerous animal species, including rats, mice, exotic and avian.
Urinalysis
Includes pH, specific gravity, glucose, ketone, blood, protein, bilirubin, and microscopic examination of a wet mount of urine sediment. Does not include microscopic examination of stained, air dried smears by a pathologist. Order cytology urine for pathologist review of stained preparations of concentrated urine.
Pathology
Our Anatomic and Surgical Pathology department provides comprehensive diagnostic services, including necropsy, surgical biopsy evaluation, and molecular diagnostics for companion animals, food/production animals, exotics/wildlife, and laboratory species. We provide veterinary molecular diagnostics, including immunohistochemistry, and PCR testing. Our pathologists are board certified by the American College of Veterinary Pathologists and have expertise in a wide variety of areas, including:
- Bone and dental pathology
- Dermatopathology
- Diseases of the liver and gastrointestinal tract
- Genetic testing
- Neuropathology
- Ophthalmic pathology
- Pulmonary pathology
- Production animal pathology
- Renal pathology
- Reproductive pathology
- Tumor pathology
- Wildlife/zoo animal pathology
